Zesty has appointed Professor Martin Severs as its new Chief Medical Officer. Martin was Chief Medical Officer of NHS Digital, formerly HSCIC from March 2014 to February 2019. NHS Digital is the national information and technology partner to the health and social care system. Their mission is to harness the power of information and technology to improve health and care.
Professor Severs was a consultant geriatrician for 30 years, a professor of health care for older people for 25 years at the University of Portsmouth and has extensive experience in general management at service, medical director, and non-executive Board roles in health and research.
Speaking about his new role, Professor Severs commented: “I am looking forward to helping the Zesty team evolve their products into a market leading Patient Portal where the patient has genuine control and can contribute to their care and well being. We share many beliefs around privacy, data protection & standardisation, information governance and protecting the rights of the patient. Martin joins on a part time basis at an exciting stage of the company’s development, Zesty currently provides digital patient facing services for 17 NHS clients across the UK. The NHS client base consists of 7 Acute NHS Hospitals plus 10 Primary Care, Community & Sexual Health providers and the company is firmly on track to double the number of healthcare customers using its technology in the next 12 to 18 months.
